We are the City of Lincoln Male Voice Choir, based in Lincoln with a balanced number of first and second tenors, baritones and basses, but we are always happy to welcome more singers to join our friendly group.

Until 2018 we performed 10 -12 concerts every year around the city and county in churches, village halls, care homes, clubs, schools and in private venues. However from January 2019, we have taken the decision to move away from monthly concerts and instead perform two or three really big concerts each year in major concert venues in and around the city. Each concert will be themed and we will be advertising and encouraging new members to join us specifically for each concert. We are all very excited by this new way of preparing for concerts and hope to welcome new members even if they stay just for one concert at a time, but of course we hope they will stay longer.

We will continue to promote charities and in recent years have supported the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, the RAF Association Wings Appeal, the Mayor of Lincoln's chosen charity and the St Barnabas Hospice.

At the City of Lincoln Male Voice Choir, we do not audition new members but allow them to join in our weekly rehearsal and settle in which ever part they feel best suited to sing whether first tenor, second tenor, baritone or bass.

We enjoy singing and performing to audiences of all ages and from all walks of life. We have a very wide repertoire of songs including folk songs, excerpts from musicals, ballads, seasonal religious music, and even more modern popular songs that the younger generations will know.

We have no age limit; our criteria is simply that you are male and have a love of singing. You are invited to join us and find out just how enjoyable choir singing can be.

Covid-19 Update

At last the choir is able to rehearse together in the same room. To keep us together as a choir and to enable us to keep various songs fresh in our minds, Crauford and Heather worked tirelessly over the past year and more conducting virtual rehearsals using Zoom technology. This has paid off in spades. The first couple of in-person rehearsals did reveal a few rusty aspects, not least a reduction in voice range, but this has quickly been overcome and we are all singing once again with confidence and above all the pleasure of being together again.

We have decided to go ahead with the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal concert on 13 November. There is a strong sense that we will be well up to concert standard by then. We just hope that Covid-19 restrictions are not reimposed. Fingers crossed!

Meanwhile, for anyone reading this and thinking of joining the choir, the information in the 'rehearsals' webpage in the 'About Us' menu remains valid now that we are back to normal rehearsals.
